A significant number of students in my class have ADD/ADHD. They fidget, they walk around the room, they bounce their legs and look for ways to get up and move. These students usually ask to leave the room and go for a walk, hence missing classroom instruction. Being able to sit or stand at a standing desk during instruction will keep my students in the classroom and allow them to be active participants in their own learning. These desks will be an added accommodation to the learning environment and in turn will help students to succeed. The ability to allow flexible seating will enable these students to be less distracting to others as well. This will enable all to learn.
