I am inheriting a classroom with just desks. I want to switch over to flexible seating for my students that includes an assortment of chairs and furniture. I also would like to add seating that encourages and allows for movement such as stability balls, rockers and motion stools. Flexible seating changes a classroom from teacher-centered to student-centered. Students learn best when they have a choice in where they sit, can move, feel comfortable, feel a part of a community, are collaborating and communicating, are meeting their sensory needs and are having fun. Flexible seating meets the needs of all students for the greatest opportunity for learning and growth.
