Mrs. Baumgardner's class of 5th grade innovators are currently challenged with finding true problems/needs they see in their school so they can work on solutions that will make school even greater for others. Students used their passions, gifts, and talents to form groups that will work together to turn problems into solutions. Groups will use the engineering design process to imagine, plan, create, and improve their solutions. These young innovators need your help in providing some supplies to add to their Maker Space. Mrs. Baumgardner's 5th grade innovators need your help in making their solutions come true! They read a book called, Pink Bat. The story revealed how to change one's thinking by turning problems into solutions. Mrs. Baumgardner's teams of innovators are fired up with their own "pink bats" and need items like: a cordless drill, a glue gun, ceiling and kitchen screw hooks, zip ties, a pair of pliers, and Dry Erase pockets, glue sticks, tacky glue, vinyl tape, carabiners and some locking castor wheels. Some of the projects that students are imagining: Problem- teachers with injuries trying to get to classrooms from their cars with their bags, etc. Solution- a mobile scooter-like cart that carries them and the things they need to carry Problem- fingers get scratched up on the pavement while playing Gaga Ball. Solution- Gaga Ball gloves Problem- limited space in the classroom esp. when working on projects like this one. Solution-create storage that will use unused space in the classroom. ie. hang on the walls, desks, etc. Problem- need for exciting games for indoor recess that allow students to move around Solution- cardboard basketball, football and carnival games Problem- students forgetting items
