My kindergarten kiddos attend a Title I, "community eligibility" school in the heart of the nation's capital. All scholars in the building receive free meals and qualify for an after school program voucher. We are a very diverse school community with a unique blend of cultures from Latin American, African American, Japanese, and Eastern European. My scholars are up against some daunting statistics. However, they are brave and confident, full of curiosity, and fully capable of becoming the next generation of change agents. 80% of my scholars are learning english as a second language. 10% percent of my scholars have special educational needs. With your support, 100% will be reading by the end of this school year and one step closer to college readiness.
