Students often have difficulty in understanding some science concepts that typically require more visual and tactile resources. Concepts such as taxonomy are often taught using lecture. With the supplies I have requested I hope to make this concept easier to understand. Using the preserved specimens to show the wide degree of differences as well as similarities that lead to taxonomic classification I hope to ignite my students interest in taxonomy. The animal survey sets are the most important as they provide a wide variety of specimens for my student to classify. I believe that by creating their own classification of these species student will develop a greater understanding of how scientists originally developed taxonomy. My students live in a small town. This also means many of them live in a small world. These specimens will make their small world a little bigger, and their knowledge as well.
