As a new teacher, I have put a large emphasis on creating a classroom library that invites all readers and learners of different backgrounds, reading levels, and reading interests. I have nearly 700 books for my students to choose from, however, their only options on where to read in our classroom is either on the floor or at their desk. Giving students a flexible, comforting, and relaxing space to read is vital to making sure that my students continue to LOVE to read. Many days, my students ask if we can continue silent reading, which I emphatically encourage!!! However, I know that if we have the BEST classroom library, reading will be even more enjoyable, memorable, and fun for my fourth graders.
