A historian, Thomas Fuller, once said, “We never know the worth of water till the well is dry.” Human beings have unlimited needs and very limited resources. My students, most of whose parents are migrant farmworkers, probably know the value of water more than anyone else. My students are looking for ways to innovate agricultural practices by integrating modern technology with sustainability. This project not only creates a platform for my students to apply their theoretical knowledge from the curriculum, to practical, hands-on activities, but also to improve their self-confidence, through discovery and experiential learning life skills. These skills include collaboration, creativity, communication, and resourcefulness. Overall, the materials we are requesting will transform the traditional view and practices of school gardens and open our students' minds to new horizons in sustainability and effective use of technology.
