My students live in an urban working class neighborhood and attend a public math and science academy. While their basic needs are generally meet, many of their families are struggling to get by. We are considered a "high poverty" school with 66% of our enrollment qualifying for the free/reduced meal program. Asking families to purchase a novel to supplement the curriculum is simply not an option. My students participate in the gifted science program, are very bright and hard workers. Enriching their curriculum with this novel study will meet their needs as students.
