I am looking to improve my students mathematical literacy by creating a library of math themed books for my classroom. I want to offer my students the opportunity to explore a topic of their choosing through one of the books in our collection and hopefully break the stigma about reading a "math" book. The books that I have selected range from histories of special numbers and mathematical ideas and theories, to biographies of mathematicians and using mathematical strategies to navigate everyday life. These books are all meant to be interesting and enjoyable reads that will foster their problem solving abilities, encourage them to reason and analyze information in a new way, and to make connections to the world outside our classroom.
