I have used the apps Dicomino and Vocabulynx to help students work on their French phonics, making it easier for them to make the link between letters and sounds. In the past, I've used the French app J'aime Lire Store for reading enrichment, both for my struggling readers and for my avid readers. The e-books are much more affordable than physical books from France, and many of them are accompanied with glossary links and narration by native French-speakers. We also often use Google Translate to translate from English to French when we do free writing. The talk-to-text feature is especially useful for students who struggle with spelling (which makes looking up words in the dictionary a bit difficult!). This encourages independence and teaches technological literacy. These are only a few examples of the ways I've used iPads in my class!
