To be able to meet the needs of all students, my second graders have the opportunity to work through self-guided centers for at least an hour each day. During this time, students are rotating through teacher-created centers that meet the specific needs of the students in my classroom, through content and language differentiation. It's important that my students become very comfortable running this special time in our classroom so that I can be as available to small groups of students as much as possible. With that being said, we live in a technologically advanced society. While many of the students don't have the opportunity to use technology in their houses, they absolutely love having the ability to explore at school. With the use of tablets during centers, a few students a day could work on sight word recognition, fun reading passages, or choose from a multitude of educational apps. I know my students will be extremely motivated by the use of tablets in my classroom!
