The students are 6-12th graders at a rural school in Tennessee. As the librarian I have set classes with grades 6-8 and have flexible schedule for high school. We have a high % of economical disadvantaged students and although with have a 1:1 Chromebook, many of our students still do not have internet at home. The mission of our school media center is to be open to students, faculty, and community and to support teachers in the classroom. Our book collection is very outdated with limited funding each year. As a fourth year librarian, I am still working to weed out books that are no longer relevant to our students. I have strong support from my principals to continue to improve our space and collection. My goal for this year is to increase reading- both in the number of books read and in the level of comprehension of the students.
