I am fortunate to be a part of a small-town rural community. Within our school, majority of our students are from low-income homes, with several generations sometimes living in one home. My students are sweet, loving young people, who really want to succeed. However, most are currently performing below grade level in math. While together, we are making strides in learning our basic facts. To aid in students, I would like to equip them with the tools they need to continue our work at home. Many of my students' parents have expressed that they themselves are not comfortable helping their children at home with math. Establishing the Math Tool Kits will help both the parents and my students practice and master their basic math skills by continuing to use the strategies and tools we use in the classroom.
