I am a third grade teacher in a suburban school in South Carolina. I am lucky enough to teach 23 lovable, eager, energetic, and curious students! My students are highly motivated and fascinated by all around them. Literacy is a crucial aspect during the elementary school years. Third grade is a big growth year for many students in their reading. Children develop literacy skills by engaging in meaningful reading and writing experiences, and they become readers and writers through a unique combination of child-initiated learning and teacher-guided instruction.
