The goal of this project is to provide some new, PURPOSEFUL toys for our classroom as one of the most impactful parts of the day in kindergarten is... PLAY. Purposeful, community-based play provides students the opportunity to build connections and practice important skills such as problem-solving, sharing, compromise, using kind words and making new friends. The toys included in this project have been intentionally chosen based on our kindergarten curriculum (such as careers, animals/living things, STEM), my awareness of student interest and quality to ensure multiple years of use allowing this project to not only help build community and develop social-emotional skills, but also tie in what we are learning in our curriculum.
