How many times do teachers walk into the classroom and hear the words, "why can't we just watch a movie?" Students are driven by technology and motivated by screens; getting students to engage in reading is becoming more and more difficult. But that is why this project is so special. This project will inspire my students to get reading by implementing the screen time that they crave into the curriculum in a positive way. The goal of my project is to pair reading with movies to teach students essential reading standards that they will use in their daily lives. This project will provide the materials needed to implement a book to movie literature circle in my classroom. Students will have the opportunity to read books that have been made into movies, watch the movie, and then do a critical analysis of the differences. By funding this project, you will help me to inspire life long readers who will gain an appreciation of literature.
