Reading comprehension is at the heart of education. It is my goal to produce fluent readers who maintain the ability to also comprehend what they have read. Complete immersion into diverse books and stories is what I believe will catapult my students into the realm of wonderful readers. Reading is able to transport readers into the deepest domain of their imagination and is the catalyst for an enjoyable educational experience. I selected several guided reading texts, both fiction and informational texts, at and above grade level. These texts will be utilized conjunctively in our classroom library as well as guided reading lessons. These lessons are aimed to target deficit areas and challenge each student within their specific zone of proximal development.The books selected will make a world of difference in my emergent readers, allowing them the opportunity to not only develop a true love for reading, but complete assimilation.
