First grade is a crucial school year. Children learn to read, write, be a good friend and work independently. Our students attend an inner-city school where approximately 95% of students live below the poverty line. All of our students receive free breakfast and lunch and many of them participate in the backpack program on the weekends. Despite their situation, our students are not discouraged from coming to school. In fact, my students walk through the doors each morning with a smile on their face, ready to learn. We do a lot of hands on, engaging learning. We love exploring inside and outside the classroom, and sparking different interests every day. Your generous donation will help students blossom and solidify their love for learning.
