My students are all teenagers or young adults (ages 14 - 21) who have cognitive impairments that preclude them from attending general education classes all day. Many of my students have limited or no verbal language. Regardless, they are unique individuals who each have a lot to offer the world around them. The key is finding new ways to help them access their environment and find meaningful ways to interact with their instructors and peers. Our school is very supportive of our program, but resources in the city are tighter than ever, and a color printer would give them so many more options for communication devices and visual prompts to support development of their independence.
