My students live in extreme poverty in a rural village in Alaska. My students often come to school for the sole purpose of eating, washing, or escaping their home lives. There is no running water in my village, and it is often difficult for families to keep everyone fed. The store often runs out of food and everything is impacted by the weather which means we sometimes go days or even weeks without planes. Snacks will help my students' attendance, focus, mood, and their overall performance and well-being. Malnourishment is a real issue where I am, and anything I can provide will be graciously received and never wasted.
