Our school is one of two elementary schools in the district that serves the Multiple Disabilities population. In addition, the majority of our students come from high poverty, low-income families and are living with other family members, in homeless shelters, or foster homes, that cannot provide the technology we are hoping to provide for our students. Students with Multiple Disabilities have two or more disabilities that inhibit them from accessing the general curriculum. Medically, our students have developmental delays, are non-verbal and non-ambulatory, and rely on adults for all of their basic care needs. Severe disabilities students learn best through a multi-sensory approach (touching, seeing, hearing exploring, etc). The focus of our curriculum is not only to help students learn academic skills (letters, numbers, shapes), but to help them acquire skills that will help them succeed in life.
