Third grade is the year that students transition from learning to read to reading to learn. This year my goal is to help all of my students achieve grade level reading proficiency, so that they can build on their success this year and beyond. This requires a classroom library that is culturally relevant and inspires my students to read at home! These books will build the print-rich classroom that I strive to create. Every student book that is placed in our classroom library is treated with love and care. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind- they complement the diverse experiences and cultures my students bring to our classroom. Students will be able to check out these books, which will foster joy during independent reading time and while reading at home. With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that reflect diverse experiences, and will allow them to read independently at their own grade level. They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. Students will be able to check out books to bring home to complete their reading logs. With your help, all of my students will have the resources necessary to build up their reading skills!
