Our district is in the 2nd year of implementing the Comprehensive Literacy Model Reading Framework by Linda Dorn and Carla Soffos. This framework includes having high standards, creating well-designed literacy plans and using technology for learning. We also incorporate Daily 5 into our kindergarten curriculum. One part of Daily 5 is implementing Work on Listening by using a listening station. A listening center will help improve their listening skills and work on higher level reading skills. Becoming a better listener is such a crucial part of learning and this new framework. The center would help to increase comprehension skills and making a greater connection to written words.
