All of the materials requested will benefit students in their general and special education classrooms with specific designed interventions by me, the occupational therapist. Fine motor materials address strengthening, manipulation, coordination and development that helps students build skills to utilize their hands for producing written work, feeding in the lunchroom, and playing on the playground. Allowing students a full sensory experience allows the body to manage regulation and enhance participation. There are many ways to address sensory: seating and mobility materials help regulate the sensory system by allowing the student to move while seated at their desks or on the floor; sensory and weighted materials are utilized to help students regulate overactive systems and allow them to have system regulation in order to participate in their classrooms. By donating to this project, students will have the necessary materials and tools to help them achieve written and verbal expression, sensory processing regulation, and everyday success in their school environment. Students will have the ability to utilize simple materials and technologies to regulate their body, produce written work, among many other things; which in turn makes school a positive, fun learning experience for all of my students impacted by your donation.
