Collaborative whiteboards will enable my students to break away from the computer screen and move in my room while maintaining a safe learning environment. The boards and supplies will allow my students to “cover our classroom walls” with their work. The pandemic has affected everyone. School does not look and feel the same. Students thrive when they interact with others. Current protocols do not allow students to collaborate effectively but creating a 360 degree classroom for my students will allow collaborative work in a safe environment. The whiteboards will cover all walls around the room. After math instruction, students will practice on the whiteboards. They can take turns doing steps to a problem or rotate from board to board providing assistance to peers. The whiteboards, markers, and rags allow students to share thoughts while maintaining distance and without sharing supplies. They jot and move! Students can unplug for the hour I have them; students are tired of class on a computer. I will be able to monitor all student work easily as I look around the perimeter of the room and intervene as needed.
