Despite being just outside of a very artistic city in Nashville, TN, most of the students in my classes will likely never get the chance to try a 3D printer and see what kind of new and amazing artistic opportunities they can present. With the introduction of a 3D printer into my classroom I can integrate technology into the art room at my school in a way that has never been done before. I can demonstrate how science can inform art and open new doors for expression that they never knew existed. The 3D printer will also allow for practical arts applications, such as showing the students how a well designed product can be both aesthetically pleasing and functional. With the printer in the room, we wouldn't have to just discuss these ideas, but we could actually make them a reality.
