Our students do a phenomenal job putting on performances throughout the year. They are self-funded and purchase their equipment through their own budget. Currently, that severely limits them with the level of equipment that they can obtain. With professional level equipment, they can take their performances to the next level! We are looking to obtain a set of Shure Beta 27 Large Diaphragm Condensor microphones to amplify the choir, ensembles, and show choirs. We currently use dynamic Shure Beta 58 microphones but they are not capable of picking up groups. We would also like to replace some 15 year old hanging choir microphones with Shure CVO microphones. Our existing equipment is 90% Shure, so these pieces will seamlessly integrate into our existing production line. Finally, we are looking to add a second set of Rode M5 compact condensers to pick up any blind spots left open by other microphone patterns. All of these items are live production quality pieces that will not only enhance the music and dramatic productions students work, but better, live, hands-on training for my audio/visual engineering students. Utilizing proper microphones and equipment will allow them to stand out and continue their dedication to excellence. Not only will it directly enhance the performers, but it will allow the audio visual engineering students to learn about industry standard tools, technology, and production level equipment, as well as how to use it. This will allow them to achieve professional certifications, and be competitive when pursuing higher education, as well as in the job market.
