My students are energetic learners who see the school community as a safe place with a set routine. They support the school's character virtues and help maintain a great environment for learning. The students are a diverse group of learners who come from low socioeconomic communities with working parent(s) or newly arrived immigrant parents learning to assimilate into American society. Parents focus on the basics of living: food, shelter and clothing; and little effort is made to ensure that studying is completed before outside play. Many student study habits are weak as their home environment is not conducive to a good study area and/or routine. Our school has character virtues which the students understand and practice. This allows for better learning and mutual respect from administrators to students. The saying, "€œIt takes a village to raise a child!"€ is exactly what we do as a school. Students feel the supportive and caring staff members and their learning is maximized!.
