Technology is all around us and is used in every aspect of our lives. Students are finding that they need to stay on top of new developments in technology because it is expected that they use technology school assignments and research, as well as state testing. With the introduction of Smarter Balanced testing (which is replacing the CST, California Standards Test) students will be required, for the first time, to take a high-stakes, end of year test on a computer, rather than using paper and pencil, as they've done in years past. Although the state is now requiring that students take tests using technology, the state has not yet provided sufficient technology for students to use in order to become proficient in use of the tool (technology) being used to assess their knowledge. My students need classroom iPads that they will have regular access to so that they can become proficient in using this technology
