Our middle school library needs a section dedicated to the social and emotional well-being of our students. Kids today are more anxious than ever, and these resources can help them process their thoughts and feelings appropriately. Teachers and social workers will also be able to utilize these books to help meet the needs of specific students. I included titles on this list to help with: anxiety, depression, social situations, shyness, and confidence. Students are also interested to read about psychology and how their brain works, so I added some interesting books on that subject matter as well. My hope is by including books about the brain and psychology, any stigma surrounding self-help books will be reduced.
