Welcome! I teach English Language Arts to sixth, seventh, and 8th grade students in a rural South Carolina district. Our focus is to refine and use our reading, writing, speaking, listening, and inquiry skills to engage in literature-based real world experiences. In other words, STEAM comes to life in our English classroom. So far this year, sixth graders have read The Boy of the Painted Cave by Justin Denzel and engaged in a cave painting experience. Students ground and mixed their own pigments from the earth. Seventh graders have read The Christopher Killer by Alane Ferguson, and are working on CSI activities--including an autopsy (see picture). Eighth graders have read Full Tilt by Neal Shusterman. They are constructing a working model amusement park using the rides from the text and properties of force and motion, advertising, and art. We need YOUR HELP to continue. Come take a look!
