My students are the best! They are funny, serious, sad, lonely, depressed, happy, outgoing, rambunctious, loud, quiet, lazy, motivated- you name the adjective, I've got the student to fit. My priority is to enable each child to be successful. I believe in the basic knowledge of reading and writing, but I also know that all students need to be computer and internet literate in order to be successful after high school. My school is in a rural, poverty level area. Many of my students do not have technology available to them. I want my students to learn to use technology as a tool for learning, but I also want them to value their own thinking. After reading Fahrenheit 451, my students have created a Family 4 51 challenge that challenges families to spend at least 51 minutes together. They created videos and a FB page to challenge others. We are seeing great results! I want them to create more projects as they see the need. They learn more when they create the projects and learning goals.
