With all the new changes going on this year, I am excited to incorporate a new reading program into my reading block. I will be using Rooted in Reading, which covers all of the Common Core Standards for First grade. This program uses read-aloud books to model and teach the core lesson before having the students practice the learned skills in small groups or individually. Each week uses a different book to teach a different skill. Students of all ages love to be read to, and what better way to teach reading than to model what good readers do? This program allows you to do that! All I need are the books. I think that this program will be very successful in my classroom and will encourage the students to read more, and enjoy reading.
