Center time is one of the most fun and educational times within our day. The students love working on fun games and activities to review their reading, writing, and math skills. Centers also allow them the chance to learn life skills such as communication and working with peers. Centers so far this year have been off to a great start, but we are missing a technology center and tablets would be the perfect fit! Tablets would be a great way for students to access any online resources and games to practice their reading and math skills whether they are working independently or in a small group with me or with their center group. This is especially important for Math Centers. For many students, having the access on a tablet to math games and activities where they have both a visual and audio support can help them to focus on math tasks, use pictures and visuals, and problem solve right there all on the tablet. For example, we have this great Monster addition game where the students must solve the addition expression up to 10 and forever correct response, an accessory is added to their monster. The kids love it, especially all the silly accessories. However, we can only play the game as a whole class on the Smart Board. But, with the tablets it can become a center activity that allows students to independently access it. It is an informative way for me to gather data to see where students are at in different math skills to inform groups and instruction. This would be a great support for some of the students who are English Language Learners and students who have learning needs. Please help us so we can continue to have fun learning during Center Time! Thank You!
