US History covers almost 400 years of history. Students have to remember all this information on their End of Course test at the end of the semester. To make studying easier I copy all review sheets on blue paper. This makes it easier for students to locate in their binder, and they know blue paper days are for review. Although it's something simple, blue paper is a break from the monotony of the everyday. Students read and annotate lots of primary source documents, political cartoons, and photographs. Students need the necessary supplies to complete these tasks. Pencils, Hi-lighters, and expo markers are essential everyday tools that many of my students do not have. Our district is trying to transition to 1:1 Chromebooks to students, however, some students cannot afford to pay the fees. As a core teacher, I am lucky enough to have additional Chromebooks for my students to use. Students often watch videos when completing WebQuests or listening to Tom Richey or Hip Hughes on Youtube for review. Some students have their own headphones, but others do not. Having headphones would allow more students to listen to audio when using the Chromebooks.
