As an elementary school counselor, I serve our entire population of 300+ students. My students come from a variety of backgrounds including foster care, poverty, and difficult home situations. I provide classroom lessons, group counseling, and individual counseling. Many of the students who receive more intensive services require support to identify, express, and handle emotions. I support the development of appropriate social skills school-wide, and more in-depth with individuals or groups in my office. I work continuously alongside my colleagues to foster a community of kindness and empathy on our campus.
