These books are more that just reading materials- they're access to a new universe where history isn't the stereotypical boring class of which students question the necessity. My students are on such varying lexile levels (from 2nd grade up to 12+), and being able to give the students who can handle more difficult reading materials something that is both relevant and interesting is a way to keep their focus, even after they're finished with their work. With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level. I rarely see my students with books in their hands, and I strongly believe that having direct access to these in a classroom will encourage them to pick one up and delve into their imaginations while still maintaining the integrity of the curriculum.
