In wrestling, as with any contact sport, there is risk of injury if student-athletes don't use the correct technique. Our kids are almost all new to the sport of wrestling and need to learn these movements with the proper scaffolds before practicing full speed on their partners. To minimize risk, we are asking for two wrestling dummies to practice proper throws and takedowns on, thereby removing the need for human partners to get thrown and potentially hurt. As our kids perfect their technique on the dummies, the risk of injury will decrease. I believe wrestling is the most powerful vehicle for change available to young people today, and these products will help facilitate our kids' progress as they become better versions of themselves through our sport. Last year, we had a student-athlete who entered our program at 300 pounds. Three months later, he was down 30 pounds and had a new outlook on life. He experienced a number of firsts: first time being part of a team, first time winning a varsity match, and first time traveling out of the city and staying in a hotel. Simply put, this sport is life-changing. Giving kids access to resources that can help them succeed is a gift that keeps on giving. Our student-athletes will grow up to be leaders in their community and give back to kids in the same position.
