My students are 11th grade through age 21 and attend a public high school. The students spend the majority of the school day in my classroom. We have created quite a community. The students have a range a disabilities, however, they all want to leave school, gain employment, and live as independently as possible. Once a week, we travel into the community to work on social skills, living skills, and vocational skills. The students fund these weekly outings through our classroom business, production, marketing, and selling dog biscuits in the community. Also, the students are placed in worksites to practice their vocational skills. The students take elective classes at the high school in their areas of interest. Often, an adult assistant attends the class with them. They enjoy art classes, physical education, and our career and technical education classes (welding, auto).
