Students always enjoy reading about scientific discoveries. By incorporating current events they become informed citizens and learn essential life skills. By making it hands on and giving students a fun interactive way to highlight annotate and read their article, we can have complete engagement and excitement to stay up to date on current events. I will print a current scientific article related to our current studies, and students will work with a partner to read and annotate the article. Once they have done that, we will turn the lights off and the black lights you provide will be used to show our highlighted annotations and notes and discuss them as a class! I will also provide the students glow sticks and let them know ahead of time the days that we will be having our literacy neon read-on so that they can wear neon clothing to class!
