I teach in an urban school district in Ohio. Most of my students come from low income families and can barely afford to pay for basic school supplies, like notebooks and folders. My district was fortunate enough to receive funding to build new school buildings a couple years ago. Although are facilities are nice, we are still unable to afford the cost of a class set of calculators for every math teacher in the middle school. My students come to school every day ready to work, but it is challenging to get a lot of the work done in 6th grade math without a calculator. My students deserve the best, and they tell me every day how they come to school to get their education. They are dedicated, hard-working, and intelligent young ladies and gentlemen. Help me help my students succeed in math this year.
