My students are brilliant, triumphant, and fearless in the face of all the things thrown their way. They thrive in an environment that promotes social learning. My school district was the last district in Missouri to return fully in person. It kept us safe but now my students need the support to continue to navigate this new world of learning. Statistically, my students are 90% free and reduced lunch. 85% African American. My specific high school hosts all of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in North County. Our district has students from over 30 countries. We are a working-class community with so much heart. I went to this district and now I teach in it, and while it has its challenges, I still have achieved my dream. Support Black artists!
