I teach about an intensive intervention reading class for sixth, seventh, and eighth graders in a high poverty area. We are Title 1 school and with a large number of students on free or reduced lunch. Many of my students are English Language Learners. Of those English Language Learners, a large percentage of them are U.S. born students who have not yet reached English language proficiency.
