The only way students become better readers is to read; children need to be reading as much as possible, both in school and at home. Unfortunately, my students do not have access to books at their home. Our school does not have a school library that provides students with books to check-out. My project is a take-home classroom library. The books that I receive from DonorsChoose.org will go to create “book bags.” Students will have the opportunity to take home a new bag of books every week to ensure that they are able to read both in school and at home with their families.
