The students in my Remedial Reading class are struggling and do not enjoy reading. I keep telling them it's because they haven't found what they like yet. My goal is to expose them to many different types of books help them find what interests them. Exciting and engaging books are essential to increase student interest in reading and subsequently, their ability. We will be using this as a book study to improve their reading fluency and comprehension as well as improve their ability to summarize. They will also be doing a book report with a detailed character analysis to demonstrate comprehension.
