My Kenwood Elementary students are in third grade. The school is over 75% free and reduced lunch, making us a Title One school. Over 60% of our population speaks another language and qualifies for ESL. In order to meet the needs of each student, I teach with a method called Personalized Learning. I evaluate the needs of each child, and tailor my instruction to start where s/he is ready to learn. In this manner, my students are empowered to set and reach academic goals and be a powerful voice within his/her education. Our only obstacle is having a unique environment to match each child's unique needs. I am looking to further empower my students by providing flexible seating; therefore, allowing each student to have a voice in his/her learning environment as well as the choice in academic paths.
