Kindergarten is all about engaging students and the supplies I have requested truly help to make the learning process fun and engaging, which is key for successful learning to take place! A quote I live by each day in my classroom is, "FAIR does not mean everyone gets the same exact thing, FAIR means everyone gets what they NEED" - Rick Riordan. To put it simply, I have decided to take the time to create this project because my students deserve every possible tool, manipulative, writing utensil, a colorful notebook that WE can provide them. Let's Do This! I have asked for pencil grips to help my students get used to holding a pencil correctly and comfortably. I have also asked for a class set of primary writing journals that will be used daily for writing our letter of the day with a picture and then moving on to simple sentences and drawing a picture to represent their sentence. I have asked for a class set of lined whiteboards which will be used for whole group engagement for practicing writing the alphabet as well as sight words on Fridays. I have also asked for a teacher's table whiteboard for more engagement activities in small group when we do centers in the room and the students rotate to my back table for guided reading, or a guided math lesson. I have also asked for three binders, which will be used at each of my three centers. The binders have activities in clear page protectors so students can erase easily and we can conserve paper. Lastly, I have asked for magnetic foam letters and numbers. These letters and numbers will be used for our word study center for building CVC words.
