I'm looking to give my students alternatives to sitting at their desks or on the cold, hard, tile floor with the Softzone Butterfly Stool modular seats. These soft foam seats will be utilized by my students during the collaborative and independent portions of their reading block. They will be used as a gathering place during the time when my students will be creating stories and research projects together. The seating options will allow the students to be more comfortable when they are working. It offered multiple ways to sit on and configure the seats, which in turn will lead to greater engagement! By having the Softzone Butterfly Stool modular seating as a choice, my students will begin to see themselves as having control over their more facets of their education and they will exhibit more pride because they are making choices and not being told how to do something. We will use these materials to aide us in the process of becoming life-long readers and writers. As an educator, I have done research on flexible seating and the improvements that have been seen in student work quality and engagement. Unfortunately in a Title 1 school parent donations are slim and I truly need assistance to provide my students with the best opportunities to grow and succeed in my classroom and beyond. Your generous donation to our project will improve engagement in our 5th grade classroom and that will result in stronger readers and writers!
