My students can benefit a great deal having flexible seating in the classroom. The traditional desks and chairs are no longer working for them. My students are full of energy and sitting in one place to learn is quite difficult. During “Math Workshop” students can choose a location in the classroom that let them feel comfortable while completing their assignments. However, they don’t have many choices on what to sit on. Having flexible seating for my students will increase their motivation and engagement for learning. Students can wiggle while learning, allowing them to burn that extra energy, which can minimize behavioral problems and distractions. Addressing how my students physically learn will ultimately improve their academic performance.
