My students will learn about the life cycle and living things through the materials I have requested. I am most excited about the Brines Mini Advance Hatching Egg Incubator. I know other teachers who have used this incubator and said it always works. I am planning on having a chick nursery in my classroom. The incubator has a clear viewing window. My students will be able to watch and observe the incubator for 21 days and then they will experience the most exiting day... hatching day. As our chickens grow inside their egg we will record the embryo changes. During those 21 days, we will read books, and write about it. On hatching day, we will watch with amazement as a chick uses it's egg tooth to peck out. The students will be amazed! When the children study science concepts through hands on learning, they build functional understanding and develop the ability to become independent learners. This hands on science lesson will provide my students with opportunities to read, write, predict, observe, problem-solve and apply it to all writing that is meaningful. After the chicks hatch, my students will work together and be responsible for our living creatures.
